In San Diego County, an estimated 486,000 (1 in 7) people experienced food insecurity in 2016 (San Diego Hunger Coalition).

The Household Food Security in the United States in 2017 (published Sep 2018) is the latest report and contains key demographic data at the national level. San Diego Hunger Coalition and San Diego Food Bank are great local sources of information on current projects and impact.
